Planning to Celebrate the End of Lockdown?

With just a glimmer of light at the end of New South Wales’ winter lockdown tunnel, it’s welcome news that the CYCA is still intending to hold the Sydney to Hobart Veterans Regatta on the 10th, 11th and 12th of December 2021.

The Regatta is open to any yachts that have competed in a Sydney-Hobart race pre 1976 and a few other Classics by special invitation.

The CYCA Sailing Office will be releasing the Notice of Race in the next few days and we’ll post a link in the comments section of this story when they arrive.

This year, the committee has added an additional "Invitational non-point score no extras" race for the Friday 10th December in the afternoon, with point score races on each of Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th, which will include Divisions for both Spinnaker and No Extras entries.

There will be a dinner on the Saturday evening at the CYCA and a prize giving scheduled on Sunday afternoon after racing.

When making entries on the CYCA website you can also load up Cat 7 Safety Details and other insurance requirements and feel free to contact the CYCA Sailing Office for any help and assistance.

What a great way to put a dreadful winter behind us!

To inspire you to join in, here’s the Sydney-Hobart films from 1960 and 1970. It’s interesting when watching them to see how much attitudes changed in the space of only ten years. How many of the boats in this footage could be part of the celebrations this year?
